Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Kindergarten through third grade celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday this past week, by making silly hats, reading Dr. Seuss books, and writing silly rhyming poems.. 

Researching Non-Fiction

In Reading and Writing Workshop we are working on reading and writing Non-Fiction. We are focusing on the features of non-fiction, and how to locate key information in the research process. This month each second grader will be choosing their own non-fiction research topic, and developing a series of inquiry questions to research. These questions are not teacher generated, but rather created by students. I will only guide second grade in creating questions that can be researched. These questions will turn into an "All About Book." This is one of the most fun units...

Literacy Month

 

Literacy month is always a lot of fun at MAZEL.. Teachers work together as a community to plan many different fun activities for the kids.. We have a book sale, a literacy fun day, reading to different classes in Hebrew and English, celebrating Dr. Seuss' Birthday, an author visit, and having parents and grandparents come read to our classes. The kids really enjoy all these activities and helps build great community ...
